Book discussion: Antjie Krog in conversation with Marianne ThammBook discussion: Antjie Krog in conversation with Marianne Thamm

On a hot Thursday evening in February, more than 200 people packed into Kalk Bay Books to listen to a conversation between author Antjie Krog and journalist Marianne Thamm, about Krog's new book, Begging to Be Black.

Wide-ranging, in-depth, provocative, thought-provoking - whatever the individual reaction was to the the discussion, one thing we all agree on - Krog's books raises questions that each South African needs to consider about who we are in relation to each other. 'Interconnectedness' is the word Krog uses to describe our dependence on each other not only for our own humanity, but for the survival of our country.

When you reread a classic you do not see more in the book than you did before; you see more in you than was there before.
