Join us at teatime for the launch of our Deep Reading discussions
The Annex Restaurant will be launching Teatime at The Annex in conjunction with a new series of book discussions, presented by Kalk Bay Books. Deep Reading Since opening Kalk Bay Books almost four years ago, many customers have spoken to us about their interest in engaging more deeply with the books they read. In response to these comments, and in support of the launch of Teatime at The Annex, we are delighted to inform you that on the first Saturday of each month from August to December, we will be hosting a new series of book discussions at The Annex Restaurant. The discussions are aimed at anyone interested in gaining a deeper insight into both contemporary and classic titles, and will be led by two highly respected literary practitioners - author and lecturer Finuala Dowling and book editor Lynda Gilfillan, a former English lecturer. Each month, two titles with thematic links have been selected for reading and discussion. For all but one session, one classic and one contemporary title have been chosen. Ideally, participants should have read both titles in preparation for the discussion. Copies of the selected titles will be available from Kalk Bay Books at a special price for participants. Please note, some titles will only be available a month before the scheduled discussion. Time: Tea will be served from 3.30pm. The discussion will start at 4pm and run for approximately 1 hour. Cost: R60 per person (service charge included) for the discussion, filter coffee or tea, and cake. Booking is essential! To ensure a focused and in-depth discussion, the number of participants will be limited to 25 people per session. To reserve your place, call The Annex at 021 788-2453 - do not return the form below.
